The hair clip

The origin for this painting was a study made in a hotel in venice, itself a study for a painting done a few years ago.

I then stayed in various hotels in brittany with the idea of returning to the subject.

The painting itself was created over a number of weeks, blending the view over the small harbour with the interior and the movement of the young woman lost in thought as she removes her hairclip.
